Beasley Broadcast-Las Vegas announces two Programming appointments. Country KCYE-FM welcomes Kris Daniels it's new PD/morning show co-host. Daniels most recently was at Country WQNU/Louisville where she was co-host of Daniels and Diaz in the Morning and the station’s MD since 2008. Mike O’Brian is promoted to PD Classic Hits KKLZ-FM. O’Brian continues his role as co-host of the KKLZ Morning Show with Mike, Jim & Carla.

Michael "Hurricane Shane" Schoenherr exits the PD/morning gig at Triple A WZEW/Mobile due to budget cuts.

Beasley Urban WIKS (101.9 Kiss FM)/Greenville, NC adds The Steve Harvey Show in mornings, starting today.

Comedy WNWZ-AM/Grand Rapids makes a format change to Urban AC 1410 AM The Touch.

With their nominations confirmed by the Senate, Dr. Jannette Dates, Bruce Ramer, Brent Nelsen, Howard Husock and Lori Gilbert join the Board of Directors of the Corporation For Public Broadcasting.

Thirteen more members of Congress have signed on as co-sponsors of the Local Radio Freedom Act. Adding their support to the Local Radio Freedom Act are Reps. Robert Andrews (D-NJ), Spencer Bachus (R-AL), Mo Brooks (R-AL), Vern Buchanan (R-FL), Tom Cotton (R-AR), Rick Crawford (R-AL), Duncan Hunter (R-CA), James Lankford (R-OK), Frank Lucas (R-OK), Ben Ray Lujan (D-NM), Dan Maffei (D-NY), Candice Miller (R-MI) and Matt Salmon (R-AZ). The legislation is now currently co-sponsored by 152 Members of the House and 11 Senators.

The 2013 CBGB Music & Film Festival has announced that Seymour Stein will be honored with the first-ever CBGB Icon Award, according to Billboard.biz. Also, Van Toffler, former President of MTV Networks and current President of Viacom's Music and Logo Networks, will deliver the event's keynote address. The festival is set to run October 9-13 in New York City.

Spotify is launching a new section this week called "browse," offering curated playlists for specific situations. Spotify VP of Product Development Charlie Hellman told CNet the playlists came from the service's user-created lists, and were then further curated by 35 staffers. CNet notes that the concept is similar to the idea behind Jimmy Iovine's impending service from Beats, code-named "Daisy."

iHeartRadio officially launches in Australia today, in a collaboration with the Australian Radio Network. According to reports, the service is still in Beta and will get a full launch in September when the iHeartRadio Festival happens in Las Vegas.

Two appointments are announced to the Sony Music U.S. sales team: Celine Joshua is named SVP of Digital Sales, arriving from Walt Disney Studios, where she served as Head of Digital Commerce. Meanwhile, Scott Van Horn has been named SVP, Sales, Commercial Music Group.

The National Association of Broadcasters announces that the 2013 NAB Marconi Radio Awards Dinner & Show will feature a performance by The Mavericks. The event, sponsored by St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, will take place September 19 at the 2013 Radio Show at the Rosen Shingle Creek Hotel in Orlando.

Viacom reports its fiscal third quarter results, with profits up 20 percent to $634 million from $534 million a year ago. Revenue jumped 14 percent to $3.69 billion. The successful quarter was in part attributed to Viacom's cable TV properties, such as MTV, VH1 and BET. Viacom's TV networks saw a 13 percent increase in revenue to $2.57 billion.
