Last month, it was reported that Cumulus Media planned to drop both Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity from its stations at the end of 2013, due to distribution rights costs. The next day, Limbaugh said he wasn't leaving Cumulus' stations and the story was essentially a "public business negotiation."
Now, Politico reports that Limbaugh will indeed be staying put with Cumulus, but Hannity is still expected to split from the company's Talk stations. Sources told Politico that Limbaugh is now likely to re-sign with Cumulus in "virtually" all markets. Meanwhile, last night Michael Savage (another Talk host syndicated by Cumulus) told his listeners he expects to take over Hannity's time slot by the end of the year. Savage called himself "the heir apparent to afternoon drive on the east coast and around America on Cumulus stations."
