August 16, 2013
Lady Gaga has released the lyric video for her new single "Applause." Filmed on Tuesday night at New York drag club Micky's, the video shows Gaga hanging out with fans and drag queens while the lyrics to the song appear onscreen. You can see the clip below. It was also revealed today that when Gaga appears on the cover of V magazine's September issue, there will be four different covers with the Pop star sporting four different looks.
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Bruno Mars are the latest performers announced for the MTV Video Music Awards on August 25. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are tied for the most VMA nods this year with six, and will perform "Same Love." Mars will reveal the next official single from Unorthodox Jukebox by performing it for the first time on TV live. He is up for four VMAs.
Paul McCartney is working on a new studio album, according to producer Ethan Johns. Johns tells Rolling Stone that he recorded four new songs with Sir Paul at Abbey Road Studio, earmarked for McCartney's next record. Rolling Stone reports that Macca has also spent time in 2012 and 2013 with a number of other producers, including Mark Ronson, Paul Epworth (who produced Adele's 21) and Giles Martin, the son of George Martin.
KISS' Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley are now part-owners of the Arena Football League expansion franchise the L.A. KISS. Named after the rockers, of course, the new team also uses the band's iconic logo. KISS aren't the first musicians to get involved with the AFL, as Jon Bon Jovi was previously a co-owner of the Philadelphia Soul.
Next year's Bonnaroo Festival already has its dates announced, as the annual event will return to Manchester, TN from June 12-15, 2014.
