Lady Gaga appeared on Good Morning America this morning for the unveiling of her new video for "Applause." The song is the first single from her forthcoming album, ARTPOP, which is due on November 11. During the GMA interview, Gaga spoke about the song and reiterated again, as she has in other recent interviews, that her recovery from hip surgery allowed her plenty of time to focus on making her new album.
"I couldn't do anything else, but create," she said on GMA. "I couldn’t dance. I couldn’t walk. I couldn’t anything. I sat on the couch and I worked every day and I wrote all my ideas down and I obsessed, obsessed about the music."
The digital single of "Applause" was released to retailers on Tuesday, August 13, and is expected to sell around 200,000 to 225,000 downloads in its first week, according to Billboard.com. The singer will give her first live performance of the song at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards on August 25.
