September 5, 2013

Jay Z
The RIAA has announced its latest round of Gold and Platinum certifications for July and August, with Jay Z and Kanye West among the superstars with the best-selling releases. Jay Z's newest album, Magna Carta Holy Grail, was certified Platinum for selling over one million copies, along with Country singer Hunter Hayes' eponymous debut# Kanye West's Yeezus and J. Cole's Born Sinner were both certified Gold, for selling over 500,000 copies each.

Additional Platinum awards were handed out to Florida Georgia Line, Kendrick Lamar and Phillip Phillips this summer for their respective 2012 debuts Here’s To The Good Times, Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City and The World From The Side Of The Moon.

Train received their fifth career Gold certification for California 37 while Demi Lovato earned her second for Unbroken.

Florida Georgia Line also had the highest digital song award of the summer (now counting sales and streams) with a 5X multi-Platinum for their hit "Cruise."

First double-Platinum song certifications were awarded to Daft Punk for "Get Lucky," Icona Pop for "I Love It," actress Anna Kendrick for her Pitch Perfect hit "Cups" and Darius Rucker's cover of "Wagon Wheel." Mariah Carey's single "Beautiful" was certified Gold and Platinum as well.
