For her appearance on Good Morning America this morning, Britney Spears put on quite a spectacle. The singer appeared via satellite from Las Vegas, where she arrived in a helicopter with 1,300 fans waiting below. Spears then descended into the desert to the sight of a giant mosaic poster held up by the fans announcing that the singer will do a two-year residency at Sin City's Planet Hollywood, starting on December 27.
"I love Vegas," Spears told GMA. "The energy here is really, really good. I'm definitely going to do the greatest hits, but I'm going to have to put some of my new material into it just to keep it fresh."
Spears will be performing 50 shows a year under the banner Britney: Piece of Me, with tickets on sale starting today. The Planet Hollywood website describes the show as "designed to delight all who enjoy the best pop theater. The fully-reconstructed theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino Las Vegas will house the world's largest indoor immersive projection theater and will create the most cutting-edge concert experience ever. In keeping with Britney's style and innovation, this epic Las Vegas show is a marriage of high-end fashion, state of the art technology and slick nightclub panache."
"We wanted the environment to be that way so people could come and stand up and feel like they're in the show with me," Spears explained.
Meanwhile, the singer also told GMA that her as-yet-untitled new album will come out on December 3, and the ballad "Perfume" will be among the new songs on the release. Other details are limited, although she did say that fans can expect to hear songs dealing with her break-up with former agent/fiancé Jason Trawick.
