Macklemore, Timberlake, Swift Lead American Music Award Nominees

The nominations for the 2013 American Music Awards were announced this morning, and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis lead the way with six nods. The Hip-Hop duo are up for Artist of the Year, New Artist of the Year, Favorite Rap Artist, Favorite Rap Album, Favorite Pop/Rock Band or Duo and Single of the Year for their smash hit "Thrift Shop."
Taylor Swift and Justin Timberlake were the next most-nominated, with five nods each. Florida Georgia Line, Rihanna and Robin Thicke were all nominated four times, while Imagine Dragons and Bruno Mars both earned three nods.
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Mars, Rihanna, Swift and Timberlake will all compete for Artist of the Year. Single of the Year is a new category for 2013, and "Thrift Shop" is up against Thicke's hit "Blurred Lines" and Florida Georgia Line's collaboration with Nelly, "Cruise." Macklemore & Lewis are facing Florida Georgia Line, Ariana Grande, Imagine Dragons and Phillip Phillips for New Artist of the Year.
Miley Cyrus and Imagine Dragons were also announced as performers for the AMAs, which will air November 24 on ABC. Winners are chosen via online voting at ama.votenow.tv.
Kelly Clarkson and will.i.am announced the nominees at two live events in New York City this morning.
