This past Friday night (10/11), Rhythmic CHR XHTZ (Z90) & XHRM (Magic 92.5)/San Diego PD R Dub! pitched his syndicated Sunday Night Slow Jams radio show to investors on ABC TV's highly-rated Shark Tank. Dub presented his case for financial investment consideration to the Sharks, who in the end declined to invest. However, they did offer up some good advice. Dub handled himself with class and was even joined by a special guest, multi-platinum singer/songwriter Brian McKnight for a little impromptu performance. If anything, it was entertaining and edited through the magic of TV.
"Being on Shark Tank was one of the most unbelievable experiences in my life. Absolutely surreal!" R Dub! tells FMQB. "It's absolutely my favorite show, so to be one of 40,000 applicants to make it on — that was the win for me!"
Dub! adds: "Today I'm reading a lot of 'Monday Morning Quarterbacks' saying I should've said this, or should've said that… but it's important to know that what you saw on TV was edited down from 46 minutes. We discussed my show, its digital platform, and radio in general, for almost an hour.Obviously they had to edit for TV, and I totally understand that. But too bad they had to cut parts like me reminding the Sharks that 93 percent of Americans use radio!"
Dub! did however get something out of his Shark Tank experience. "Overall, my #1 goal was to publicize Sunday Night Slow Jams (and the weeknight version) and not get clowned on by the Sharks," he says. "Mission complete!"
