Taylor Swift has just unleashed a brand new song called "Sweeter Than Fiction," from the One Chance soundtrack. The peppy, '80s-influenced song, which hit iTunes at midnight, was co-written with fun. guitarist Jack Antonoff. Around the same time the song was released, Antonoff tweeted about the track and its '80s vibe, writing: "sweeter than fiction is here! very inspired by @taylorswift13 & LOVE working with her. hear the john hughes in it?"
The song will play over the end credits of One Chance, which stars British actor James Corden in the lead role of a warehouse manager and wannabe opera singer turned pop star after winning Britain's Got Talent in 2007. The movie opens on October 25.
"I'm very inspired by the concept of love. And this movie is, in a lot of ways, a love story. You're expecting to go in and see a movie of someone who makes his dreams come true, but what you don't realize is you're actually being told a story of the love his wife... has for him," Swift explained to Taste of Country about the track at the Toronto International Film Festival. "That was the story that hit me and really affected me. I wanted to tell a story musically from that perspective."
Meanwhile, Swift has been writing other new material while on her Red tour. During her acceptance speech after winning Songwriter/Artist of the Year from the Nashville Songwriters Association, she spoke a little about her writing process. "I think the goal for the next album is to continue to change, and never change in the same way twice," Swift said. "How do I write these figurative diary entries in ways that I've never written them before and to a sonic backdrop that I've never explored before?"
