New FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler is expected to take the helm this Monday, November 4. A source tells TVNewscheck that Wheeler spoke with Acting Chair Mignon Clyburn on Wednesday night "about the importance of a smooth transition." It is unknown when new FCC Commissioner Michael O'Rielly will begin his tenure.

Trip Savery is named EVP and Market Manager for Curtis Media Group-Raleigh-Durham. Savery, who most recently served as VP/Station Manager at Greater Media-Charlotte, begins his new assignment on November 7.
Veteran programmer Jerry McKenna joins Cape Cod Broadcasting (CCB) as PD of the company’s four stations -- Hot AC WQRC, AC WOCN, Country WKPE and Classical WFCC. McKenna will join the company November 25. Most recently he served as OM and Regional PD of the Worcester and Springfield, MA Cumulus clusters. The move reunites McKenna with CCB GM Beverly Tilden, who commented, "Jerry is well known in the broadcast industry for his success in programming many different formats and most importantly in building and coaching successful programming teams. Pandora is now available on Chromecast, Google’s new TV-connected device that wirelessly delivers online audio and video entertainment to your television. Pandora is available on Chromecast through an update to its Android and iOS mobile apps, which will include a Cast button for simple, one-touch streaming to the TV.
Facebook has reported its Q3 results, with a 60 percent jump in revenue, attributed to mobile advertising. Revenue reached $2.02 billion, compared to $1.26 billion in Q3 2012. Earnings reached $425 million in the third quarter, an improvement from a $59 million loss one year ago.
MTV has launched a new app, MTV Artists, which combines a number of different music app features into one place. CNet reports that the app identifies songs a la Shazam, includes a lyrics search engine, offers music videos and bios on artists, and lets you buy concert tickets as well. The app is currently only available for iOS devices.
