CBS Radio Modern Rock mainstay KROQ/Los Angeles has announced the lineup for night one of its 24th annual Almost Acoustic Christmas concert. The two-night event is set for December 7 and 8 at the Shrine Auditorium in L.A. Night one features Kings Of Leon, Vampire Weekend, Queens of the Stone Age, AFI, Arctic Monkeys, Cage The Elephant, Grouplove, Foals and New Politics. The lineup for night two will be announced soon. Proceeds from the first night of the KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas benefits local charity Para Los Niños.

Multiple markets already have dueling all-Christmas stations, with Adult Hits WLGX (Gen X Radio)/Louisville, AC WVEZ/Louisville, AC WWDE/Norfolk, Rhythmic AC WMOV/Norfolk, Hot AC WTSS/Buffalo, AC WJYE/Buffalo, Classic Hits KHLX/Sacramento and Hot AC KPTL/Des Moines among the stations that are playing holiday music already.
New FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler has announced multiple staff appointments, as Ruth Milkman becomes his Chief of Staff, with Philip Verveer named Senior Counselor to the Chairman. Also, Gigi B. Sohn is appointed Special Counsel for External Affairs and Diane Cornell is named Special Counsel. Daniel Alvarez, Renee Gregory and Maria Kirby will serve as legal advisors. Deborah Ridley is appointed Confidential Assistant to the Chairman, with Sagar Doshi named Special Assistant to the Chairman. Additionally, Jon Sallet will serve as Interim Director of the Technology Transitions Policy Task Force and will become Acting General Counsel, as Jon Wilkins is named Acting Managing Director and Advisor to the Chairman for Management and Roger Sherman becomes Acting Chief of the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau.
