Maxwell Joins Z100/NY As Air Talent/Asst. Music Director
January 6, 2014

Maxwell
Chris "Maxwell" Jones segues from CCM+E’s WIOQ (Q102)/Philadelphia, where he was APD/MD/afternoon guy, to sister CHR WHTZ (Z100)/New York, where he will assume the 10p-2a slot vacated by Trey Morgan and also serve as Assistant Music Director. Morgan enlisted at CCM+E’s L.A. Modern Rock station KYSR (ALT 98.7) towards the end of last year.

Z100 PD Sharon Dastur exclusively told FMQB, "The great thing about Maxwell joining us is that with Saturday Night On-line Live, our audience has had a taste of what Maxwell can do, not only with the interviews but also whenever he’s filled in for Romeo. I’ve also had the opportunity to work with him personally over the last six-eight months with Nick Radio. He’s so natural on the air and lives and breathes Pop culture. His interview skills are unbelievable. He’s a well-rounded superstar. Not only does he have great ears on the programming side, he’s a great jock, and he’s very well versed in social media. He really is just the perfect example of what the future is all about for a radio broadcaster. We’re so excited to have him join our team."

Dastur added, "I have to say that Trey was such a strong hire five years ago and such a big part of our team. I was excited for him to move to LA and I know we’ll miss him. He’ll do great in LA but his departure created a spot for Maxwell who is certain to be a major contributor as well."

Max is in the Z100 building today, but his first day on the air will be Tuesday, January 7.

In more Sharon Dastur news…In case you missed it toward the end of last year, Sharon was officially made one of the company's CHR Brand Coordinators and Brand Managers, along with CC programming execs John Ivey and Alex Tear. In her expanded role, Sharon is involved more in national initiatives and in fact she, along with John Ivey, booked last year’s entire Jingle Ball tour, a process that began in May.
