Quick Hits: Kanye West, AC/DC, Lil Wayne, Arcade Fire, Christina Aguilera, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers / Benmont Tench
February 17, 2014

Kanye West is taking his Yeezus tour down under this spring, with five Australian shows set for May. Pusha T will open the arena shows in Perth (5/2), Adelaide (5/4), Melbourne (5/6), Brisbane (5/9) and Sydney (5/10).  In other Kanye news, he has released a remix of Beyoncé's "Drunk In Love," with a new verse by West himself. On Saturday, Beyoncé teased a new video via YouTube for the Kanye remix of "Drunk In Love."

AC/DC
AC/DC plans to enter the studio this spring to start working on a new album, as the venerable Australian rockers will celebrate their 40th anniversary in 2014. Speaking to Rock WKGR (Gater 98.7)/West Palm Beach, singer Brian Johnson said, "I think we’ll be going into the studio in May in Vancouver," to record what would be their first new record since 2008. Johnson added, "It’s been 40 years of the band’s existence, so I think we’re gonna try to do 40 gigs, 40 shows, to thank the fans for their undying loyalty. I mean, honestly, our fans are just the best in the world, and we appreciate every one of them. So, like I said, we’ll have to go out, even though we’re getting a bit long in the tooth. You know what?! It’s been four years [since we last went out on the road], and I’m really looking forward to it."

Could Lil Wayne release Tha Carter V this spring? Drake revealed the news during a New Orleans concert that was part of the NBA's All-Star weekend, saying Tha Carter V will be out on May 5. However, MTV News notes that an executive from Weezy's Cash Money label said in an interview just last week that the rapper didn't want to reveal the release date for his new record, because he wanted it to be a surprise for his fanbase.

Arcade Fire has announced Dan Deacon and Kid Koala as the opening acts for the first nine dates on their upcoming North American tour, which begins on March 6 in Louisville. Meanwhile, fans can catch Arcade Fire this Thursday (2/20) on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Congratulations to Pop star Christina Aguilera, who got engaged on Valentine's Day. Aguilera tweeted the news on Friday, with a picture of her hand wearing a ring, holding hands with now-fiancé Matt Rutler. Rutler is a film producer who met the singer during the making of the movie Burlesque. Aguilera was previously married to marketing executive Jordan Bratman for five years.

Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers keyboardist Benmont Tench is ready to release a solo album, You Should Be So Lucky, on February 18. The set features special guest players such as Ringo Starr, Blake Mills, Ryan Adams, Gillian Welch, David Rawlings, and Don Was. While promoting the solo album, Tench told Billboard.com that Petty and the Heartbreakers are in the studio as well. "I think it's close to finished, and I think it's really good," he said of a new album. "When Tom feels like it's the right batch of songs that fit together right, we'll have us a record... There's a couple of ways it can go depending on how Tom decides to shape the record with the material we have. This is a very versatile band, and we have a lot of different interests, musically. So I'm actually curious to see what he's going to pick and how he wants to represent it."
