PD/midday host Jack Daniel inks a new mult-year contract with CCM+E Alternative WEND/Charlotte. With this new deal, Daniels also adds PD responsibilities at Adult Hits WLKO, in addition to his duties as morning host on the Big Classic Hits channel on iHeartRadio.

NAB EVP of Communications Dennis Wharton issued the following statement in response to the introduction of legislation today to increase the rates that songwriters are paid when their music is played on local radio stations and other platforms, "NAB respectfully opposes this legislation, which could impose new costs on broadcasters that jeopardize the future of our free locally-focused service. While this legislation raises important issues about the changes confronting the songwriter community, NAB objects to changes in law that would deal with the financial imbalance between songwriters and artists by subjecting free broadcast radio stations to new fees."

Talk WNYM-AM/New York taps comedian/actor Joe Piscopo for mornings. Joining Piscopo will be Frank Morano (producer) and Al Gatullo (new anchor).

Ben McWhorter is named LSM for Journal Broadcast Group's four-station Knoxville cluster which includes CHR WWST, Rhythmic CHR WKHT, Country WCYQ and Classic Hits WNOX.

Zach Katz rises to the Chief Creative Officer post at BMG Chrysalis North America.
