April 29, 2014

NBC's Today show has announced the lineup for its annual Toyota Concert Series on Today, with Mariah Carey slated to kick things off on May 16 in New York's Rockefeller Plaza. Other artists appearing this summer include Austin Mahone on May 26, Pharrell Williams on June 5, Little Mix on June 17, Fall Out Boy on June 20, Ed Sheeran on July 4, and OneRepublic on July 25.

Adam Lambert

A collection titled The Very Best of Adam Lambert is due on May 27. The 14-track album will include three American Idol live performances from when Lambert was on the show, such as his covers of "Mad World" by Tears for Fears and "One" by U2. Lambert's version of Lady Gaga's "Marry the Night" from his appearance on Glee is also featured, along with singles such as "For Your Entertainment" and "Whataya Want From Me."

The 18th annual Webby Awards have been handed out, honoring the best in Internet innovation. De La Soul was named Webby Artist Of The Year for putting their entire discography online as a free download, while Jay Z's Magna Carter Holy Grail App won the Webby Award in the Best Music App category. Beyoncé won the People's Voice Award in the Celebrity Fan Category for www.Beyonce.com, and Pharrell Williams won the Webby and People's Voice Award in the Best Use of Interactive Video category for his "24 Hours of Happy." The Webby Awards ceremony will be available for viewing on demand at www.webbyawards.com beginning on May 20.

The Dirty Heads will offer up a new album titled Sound of Change on July 8 via Allen Kovac’s Five Seven Music. The first single off the album, "My Sweet Summer," will be available for purchase at all online digital retailers on May 6, the same date the album pre-sale will go live. The new record is said to blend club bangers with rap and pop sounds, all while maintaining the band's reggae/rock roots.

Mastodon has set June 24 as the release date for their next album, Once More 'Round the Sun. The album, which was produced by Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Alice in Chains), is available for pre-order now on iTunes. The single, "High Road," is available to purchase now.

Today, Judas Priest unleashed the title track from their forthcoming album, Redeemer of Souls. The song is now available for digital purchase, and the full album is due on July 15. Guitarist Glenn Tipton comments: "Sometimes in the past we may have come under fire for being too adventurous musically - so we have listened! From start to finish, Redeemer of Souls is 13 songs of pure, classic Priest metal!"
