Mariah Carey has revealed that her new album, titled Me. I Am Mariah... The Elusive Chanteuse, will be out on May 27. In a YouTube clip explaining the title, Mariah shows a "self portrait" that she drew when she was three-and-a-half years old, which will also adorn the back cover of the album.
"This is my first and only self portrait," the singer says in the video. "I titled it, 'Me. I Am Mariah.' It was a creative visualization of how I saw myself, with the purity of a child's heart, before it was ever broken. I've kept this story private for so long, but because this album is a reflection of some of the peaks and valleys that have made me who I am today, I've decided to share it with those of you who actually care and have been here for me through it all."
The official tracklist shows a number of guest stars, including Nas, Miguel, Wale and Fabolous. as well as one track called "Supernatural" that features Carey's family: husband Nick Cannon and babies Monroe and Moroccan. The deluxe edition of Me. I Am Mariah... boasts extra tracks such as "It's a Wrap (feat. Mary J. Blige)" and "Betcha Gon' Know (feat. R. Kelly)."
As previously reported, Mariah will kick off NBC's Today summer concert series with a televised performance in New York's Rockefeller Plaza on May 16.
