Lana Del Rey
Lana Del Rey has released the video for her new single, "West Coast," which fans can watch now on YouTube. There's still no exact release date for her forthcoming album, Ultraviolence, but it was produced by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys. Auerbach recently told Rolling Stone that he invited Del Rey to jam at his Nashville studio, Easy Eye, and "what started off as 'Let's get together for a couple days with some musicians' turned into two weeks doing an album." The producer added, "Her demos were so good, her songs were so strong, that I wanted to get my musicians in who I love and get my sound that I get here with her songs, and that's it. I didn't want to mess it up. She sang live with a seven-piece band. That's the whole record Ė a seven-piece band with her singing live. It was crazy."
The estate of Michael Jackson has created a "world premiere experience" that will be unleashed at this year's Billboard Music Awards, to be held on May 18 in Las Vegas. Billboard says that the spot will present the King of Pop "like you've never seen him before," but the finer details remain a secret. Jackson's posthumous album, Xscape, comes out on May 13. Meanwhile, the Billboard Music Awards also will feature performances by Miley Cyrus, Ricky Martin, Jennifer Lopez, Pitbull, 5 Seconds of Summer, Florida Georgia Line, Jason Derulo, Imagine Dragons, Luke Bryan, John Legend, OneRepublic, Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood. ABC will broadcast the show live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena and Yahoo will be streaming the red carpet show.
It seems that Madonna's next album will have a definite EDM vibe, as she is now in the studio working with Diplo after already recording some new tunes with Avicii. Madonna posted a selfie on Instagram with the caption, "Diplo is a slave driver! Got me working all hours of the night in the studio. Had to sneak into the bathroom!" No release date, title or additional details have been announced for what will be Madonna's 13th studio album.
ABC's Good Morning America has unveiled its 2014 Summer Concert Series lineup, which takes place in New York City's Central Park. Lady Antebellum kicks it off on May 23, followed by 50 Cent on May 30, Demi Lovato on June 6, Paramore on June 13, and Jennifer Lopez on June 20. The rest of the summer will see performances by Jason Derulo, Zedd, Kings of Leon, Robin Thicke and more.
Billy Corgan has recruited Tommy Lee to play drums on the new Smashing Pumpkins album. The Pumpkins' website sports a photo of Corgan and Lee in the studio together posted with the update: "Just finished round 1 of tracking drums with Tommy Lee for the new the Smashing Pumpkins album. Shockla-locka-boom. Yes, that T Lee for all 9 songs of Monument To An Elegy." The band recently signed a worldwide exclusive Artist Services Deal with BMG Chrysalis U.S. to release the next two Pumpkins albums, Monuments To An Elegy and Day For Night. The first single is expected at the end of 2014, with the albums coming in 2015.
