Several years ago, WPSC (88.7, William Paterson University)/Wayne, NJ, created an award honoring people who they considered, “brave in radio”. This years recipient of “Bravery In Radio Award” is Elvis Duran. WPSC presented the award live on the Z100/New York morning show on May 9 at 8:00 am. Professor Rob Quicke, GM of 88.7 FM, stated, “For his efforts in producing creative and exciting radio over the course of his career, the students of WPSC are delighted to recognize Elvis Duran with this year’s Bravery In Radio award. Elvis is a broadcaster who creates undeniably compelling morning radio that is unafraid to address serious topics and go to places that other shows will not go. Elvis is very much an authentic broadcaster who truly connects with his listeners.” Elvis Duran stated, “I’m honored and flattered and humbled, I appreciate this very much. I’ve been doing radio since I was 14 years old – and I turn 50 this year! I have been doing radio for a long, long time! Thanks so much.” Past winners of the “Bravery In Radio Award” include: Les Paul, Bruce Morrow, Howard Stern, Robin Quivers and NPR’s “Radio Lab.”

WKTU (103.5 KTU)/New York will be commemorating one of the most iconic musical acts in the industry, Michael Jackson, through a station tribute entitled “MJ Tuesday.” On Tuesday, May 13, the release date of Jackson’s latest album Xscape, KTU will highlight some of the iconic singer’s greatest hits and newest tracks including his latest single “Love Never Felt So Good” twice every hour so devoted listeners and fans can join in on the celebration. Michael Jackson has been the only artist in history that has been a part of the KTU family and playlist since the station’s debut on-air in New York City as Disco 92 KTU in the 1970’s.
      “Michael Jackson has been celebrated by KTU since the station's inception," said Rob Miller, Program Director of WKTU.  "We're thrilled to be honoring an icon whose music continues to grace our airwaves."

Myisha Brooks
is named VP of Creative Relations and Marketing for Motown Records. In this newly created position, Brooks’ responsibilities will encompass marketing, artist development and public relations, as she facilitates strategic initiatives for recently signed artists in addition to constructing, initiating, and supervising broad-range media campaigns for the label’s diverse and dynamic artist roster. Prior to joining Motown, Brooks served as VP of Publicity at Republic Records.

Entravision announces the appointment of Diana Zamudio to SVP of Integrated Marketing Solutions for the El Paso, Texas market. In this role, Zamudio will be responsible for the expansion of sales across Entravision’s radio, digital and mobile properties and marketing services in the El Paso market. She previously served as a GSM at Entravision El Paso.
