Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers
Tom Petty has already announced that his upcoming 13th studio album with The Heartbreakers, entitled Hypnotic Eye, will be out on July 29 via Reprise Records. Now, fans are getting their first taste of the album in the form of the song "American Dream Plan B," which can be heard via Rolling Stone here. Petty told the magazine that when debuting "American Dream Plan B" for the rest of the band, their initial reaction was silence. "I said, 'Listen, I think we have something here, but we're going to have to get excited about it,'" Petty laughed. As it turned out, the Heartbreakers loved the song, but Petty said he had to drag the affirmation out of them.

As previously reported, the band's 30-date North American tour, featuring special guest Steve Winwood, will begin in San Diego on August 3. It includes headline performances at San Francisco's Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival and at the Lockn' Festival in Arrington, VA.

"I never thought I'd be this busy at this point in my life," Petty admitted to Rolling Stone. "I never expected to be at this point, doing stuff and figuring out how to get it to people. This band just grows and grows, and that's an incredible gift."

The complete tracklist for Hypnotic Eye is as follows:

1. American Dream Plan B
2. Fault Lines
3. Red River
4. Full Grown Boy
5. All You Can Carry
6. Power Drunk
7. Forgotten Man
8. Son of My Youth
9. U Get Me High
10. Burnt Out Town
11. Shadow People
