According to CNN, Kerri Kasem's attorney Troy Martin says the judge overseeing her father Casey Kasem's medical care case has reversed course and revoked an earlier decision ordering doctors to artificially feed and hydrate the radio legend.
Judge Daniel S. Murphy said he changed his mind after receiving medical records from St. Anthony’s Hospital near Seattle saying the ailing Kasem was not responding to artificial nutrition and fluids, leading to painful complications.
“It would be acutely harmful for Mr. Kasem to have nutrition and hydration restored at this time,” said Judge Murphy. “This was at the advisement of doctors at St. Anthony’s.”
Kerri Kasem said in a statement following the hearing: "The court's decision today upheld our father's explicit wishes as expressed by him in his health directive."
According to the CNN report, A directive was signed by Kasem in 2007 saying, "he would not want to be kept alive if it would result in a mere biological existence, devoid of cognitive function, with no reasonable hope for normal functioning."
Judge Murphy upheld an earlier conservatorship granted to Kasem's daughter and said she can continue making decisions during her father’s final days.
