Jack White's Lazaretto Debuts At #1
June 18, 2014

Jack White's second solo album, Lazaretto, tops the SoundScan sales chart this week with 138,000 copies sold. This essentially matches his last solo record, Blunderbuss, which also debuted at #1 and sold essentially an identical amount of copies, according to Billboard. Lazaretto was also the #1 album in Canada and Denmark, reports White's Third Man Records label.

Most notably, Lazaretto set a new all-time SoundScan record for vinyl copies sold in one week. The vinyl version, which had a variety of unique features, gimmicks and bonus tracks, sold 40,000 copies. The previous record holder was Pearl Jam's Vitalogy, which sold 34,000 copies back in 1994 (because it was released on vinyl two weeks before any other format). Billboard notes that 40,000 copies would have been enough to put the vinyl Lazaretto alone at #4 on this week's sales chart.

The rest of the top ten is made up of holdovers from last week's chart, with Country star Miranda Lambert down one slot to #2 with Platinum. The unstoppable Frozen soundtrack is at #3, followed by Brantley Gilbert at #4 with Just As I Am. The soundtrack to The Fault In Our Stars came in at #5.

The NOW 50 compilation is at #6, Coldplay is at #7 with Ghost Stories, Turn Blue from The Black Keys is at #8 and Michael Jackson's Xscape collection is at #9. The top ten is rounded out with Now That's What I Call Country, Volume 7.

Iggy Azalea's hit "Fancy" (featuring Ariana Grande) remains the #1 single in the country.
