Quick Hits: Godsmack, Ariana Grande, Vevo LIFT Live, The Beatles
July 10, 2014

After a four-year break between albums, Godsmack singer Sully Erna says that the group's "brotherhood is stronger now than it's ever been." The band members just needed some space from each other, but when they reconvened to craft the new album, 1000hp, "the guys brought in a batch of songs and I had a batch of songs I'd been working on and we laid them all on the table and stared carving through them and seeing which ones we were gonna tighten up and which ones were not gonna make the cut," the singer told Billboard.com. The result is a 10-song set that ranges from heavy to experimental. Godsmack is now gearing up for this year's Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar tour, which kicks off August 15 in Detroit. After that, Erna says the band will tour Canada with more U.S. dates to follow later in the fall.

Ariana Grande has teamed up with Target to give fans an exclusive deluxe edition of her upcoming album, My Everything, featuring two bonus tracks ("The Cadillac Song" and "Too Close"). The exclusive deluxe edition of My Everything is currently available for pre-order on Target.com. The album drops on August 25. As previously reported, Grande will perform her new single, "Break Free," at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards on August 24.

Rising artists Disclosure, Sam Smith, Phantogram, and Kiesza will headline the second annual Vevo LIFT Live concert, an intimate and exclusive event to be held in Chicago on July 30. Performances captured at the event will be made available for viewing across Vevo platforms in August.

The CBS television special called The Beatles: The Night That Changed America, which commemorated the 50th anniversary of the Beatles' debut on The Ed Sullivan Show, received six Emmy Awards nominations on Thursday morning. The show is nominated for Outstanding Variety Special, and it was also named in the categories of direction (Gregg Gelfand), music direction (Don Was), writing (Ken Ehrlich, David Wild), lighting design and sound mixing.
