Quick Hits: Avicii, iTunes Festival, Adam Levine, The Script, Demi Lovato, Johnny Marr
July 21, 2014

Avicii
Swedish EDM star Avicii has been camped out in the Hollywood Hills working on the follow-up to his hit 2013 album, True. Collaborators for the new effort include Jon Bon Jovi, Serj Tankian of System of a Down, Coldplay's Chris Martin, and Billie Joe Armstrong. Avicii has even recorded a Reggae duet between Wyclef Jean and Matisyahu. "It's going to be a lot more song-oriented," he told Rolling Stone of the album, which is due out later this year. "True was an attempt at that, getting electronic music in a song format."

Apple has announced that Maroon 5, Pharrell Williams, Beck, Sam Smith, Blondie, Kylie, David Guetta, 5 Seconds of Summer, Calvin Harris, Chrissie Hynde and many more will be headlining this year's iTunes Festival in London. Returning to the U.K. for an eighth year, the iTunes Festival will feature over 60 acts throughout September at the legendary Roundhouse venue. iTunes performances can be watched live or on-demand via the iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, as well as in HD on Apple TV. Tickets are free for contest winners only.

E! News reports that Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine married model Behati Prinsloo at Flora Farms in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico on Saturday. The couple reportedly swapped vows in front of 300 guests, and asked them to make a donation to the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles instead of getting the newlyweds a gift. The couple will honeymoon in South Africa. Meanwhile, Maroon 5's new album, V, is set to drop on September 2.

Irish trio The Script will release a new album, No Sound Without Silence, on September 30. The first single, "Superheroes," hit U.S. radio today and will be available digitally on July 29. The band will do a U.S. tour supporting OneRepublic starting on July 30 Omaha.

Honda Stage and Live Nation have teamed up to deliver three free concerts in various locations across the U.S. to support the launch of new Honda vehicles. The first Honda Stage Live Nation concert will feature Demi Lovato, giving fans a preview of her World Tour on July 21 at Harry Bridges Memorial Park at The Queen Mary in Los Angeles. Honda Stage and Live Nation will unveil additional concert artists and locations in the coming months.

Johnny Marr will follow up his 2013 debut solo effort, The Messenger, with a second album titled Playland. It will be released on October 6 and a lead single titled "Easy Money" will debut the same day. The new album is meant to be a continuation of The Messenger. Marr told NME that: "The album's main themes are the atmosphere of the city, and the preoccupations of the people who live in them; those preoccupations being consumerism, sex and anxiety, or distraction and transcendence from those things."
