Jet

Jet have postponed two tour dates this weekend, due to singer Nic Cester's acute laryngitis. The band was set to perform in Philadelphia tonight (9/29) and in Toronto on Sunday (10/1). Jet will return to active duty with a performance on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno on Tuesday, October 3, the same day their new album, Get Born, arrives in stores. In a statement, the band promises, "when we return [to make up the shows], it will of course be with a vengeance." Also this weekend, FMQB Productions' "Inside Jet's Shine On" broadcast special will be airing on radio stations across the country.

The Killers will be the musical guest on the season premiere of NBC's Saturday Night Live this weekend, along with host Dane Cook. In addition, the band will become the first group ever to perform for three consecutive nights on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live. The three-day residency kicks off on Tuesday, October 3, the same day their new album Sam's Town lands in stores.

Barenaked Ladies, who are currently on their own Desperation Records, scored an impressive opening week of sales for their new album, Barenaked Ladies Are Me. The Canadian group brought in just under $1 million in revenue on the independent release of the record, according to Digital Music News, using a variety of different options for fans, plus lower overhead for the band. The album was released as a CD, a digital download and even a USB Flash memory key with an expanded edition of the record. Of course, if BNL had $1 million, well we know what they'd do...

Robert Plant's first-ever DVD will be released on October 24. The DVD shows Plant's Soundstage performance that was filmed at the Soundstage Studios in Chicago on September 16, 2005, with his band, Strange Sensation. The live set includes reinvented Led Zeppelin classics like "No Quarter," "Black Dog" and "Whole Lotta Love," as well as selections from Plant's solo career.

In addition to working with Public Enemy and starring in his VH1 reality show, Flavor Of Love, Flavor Flav will release a self-titled solo album on Halloween. "This is my first and only album ever because I want it to be a collector's item," Flav told Billboard.com. "I always wanted to do a solo album but coming up through the years there's been a lot of obstacles in my way that have stopped me from being able to do so." Flav also said that the lead single, "Flavor Man," is his favorite track on the disc. "It's because of the heart and soul that I put into it. I'm playing live instruments on there and doing all my lead vocals and background vocals," he said.

Switchfoot will release their new album, Oh! Gravity, on December 26. The title track is the first single from the record and impacts at radio on October 31. Switchfoot will begin their fall headlining tour in Los Angeles on October 18.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs just kicked off a brief U.S. tour with dates scheduled up to October 16 in Nashville. The band will then head south to Central and South America for the rest of the month.

Greg Dulli's Twilight Singers will release a new EP this fall entitled A Stitch In Time. The EP features the Massive Attack cover "Live With Me" with Mark Lanegan appearing on the track. The Twilight Singers will hit the road on an extensive fall tour beginning October 24 in San Francisco, with North American dates winding up on November 16 in Brooklyn. The band will then head overseas for more European touring.

The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus will be on the road this November and December, playing a number of radio festivals, as well as their own headlining dates. Joining them will be up-and-coming Chicago-based band Madina Lake, who recently released their EP The Disappearance Of Adalia.

Pop-Punkers As Fast As will have their single "Florida Sunshine" feaured in Monday's episode of CSI: Miami on CBS. The band is on tour currently with dates scheduled up to November 11 in Englewood, CO.

Jimmy Buffett will preview his forthcoming album, Take the Weather With You, on the Sirius Satellite Radio channel Radio Margaritaville on October 4 at 6 p.m. Buffett will tell the story behind every song on his new work, which is being released on October 10 via RCA Records.
