Nickelback Signs With Republic Records
August 20, 2014

As first reported last week, Nickelback has signed a deal with Republic Records, and will release a new album in the fall. The veteran Canadian rockers released a new single, "Edge Of A Revolution," this week, which debuted on CCM+E stations around the country and is available via iTunes and other digital retailers. Nickelback is currently recording what will be their eighth studio album.

The signing was a joint effort between Republic co-founder and CEO Monte Lipman and President/CEO of Universal Music Canada Randy Lennox. In a statement, Lipman said, "Nickelback has not only proven to be one of Rock & Rollís greatest headlining acts, but their ability to write songs defining a generation may be their greatest gift of all. We are thrilled and extremely proud to work with one of musicís all-time powerhouse franchises."

Lennox, who brought the band to Universal Music Canada on their last album and collaborated with Lipman to secure their new home adds, "Nickelback are one of the best-selling bands in żCanada's history and we're excited to be able to extend our long-term relationship with them as they enter into this next great chapter with our friends at Republic."

Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger adds, "We are very excited to be releasing new music for our fans and feel it's some of our strongest material to date. During the recording process as we looked toward the next chapter, it became clear that Monte, Randy and the entire Republic / Universal team had a shared vision and passion for this project. Their track record of Artist development speaks volumes to their success and we are honored to be partners with them."

As reported last week by Billboard, Nickelback is planning a major tour in conjunction with Live Nation in support of the new record.
