Clear Channel Media and Entertainment Nashville announced today the launch of ALT 98.3 WNRQ-HD2, effective immediately.

ALT 98.3 will offer mainstream alternative music programming featuring artists like Nashville residents The Black Keys, Kings of Leon, Jack White and other superstars including Coldplay, Pearl Jam, Green Day, Imagine Dragons and The Lumineers. The new station will be commercial free through Mid-September, with a local on-air talent lineup to be announced soon. Additionally, ALT 98.3 will be the official FM home for Vanderbilt Football, beginning August 28, when the Commodores kickoff the 2014 season against Temple.

"The Music City has been missing this very important genre of music, much of which is made right here," said Michael Bryan, Operations Manager, Clear Channel Media and Entertainment Nashville. "We're excited to offer Nashville a new home for everything alternative."

"We're thrilled that we can finally deliver a brand that will connect with the vibrant alternative rock fans in Nashville," said Dan Endom, Vice President and Market Manager, Clear Channel Media and Entertainment Nashville. "Plus we are also happy to offer a new and exciting way for businesses to engage with and influence this active consumer base."

Fans can listen to ALT 98.3 on the station's website
www.alt983.com, as well as on iHeartRadio.com and the iHeartRadio mobile app.
