Quick Hits: Ed Sheeran, Ariana Grande, John Legend, Fifty Shades Darker, Trent Reznor
January 12, 2017

Yesterday Ed Sheeran confirmed his new album will be titled ÷ (or Divide) and unveiled the full tracklist. Now Atlantic Records has given Divide a March 3 release date. Pre-orders for Sheeran's new record begin tomorrow, January 13. In the past week, his new single "Shape Of You" broke the record for single-day streams on Spotify with 7,940,950 streams.

Ariana Grande and John Legend have been confirmed to cover the iconic theme song to Beauty and the Beast for Disney's upcoming live action remake. The original was sung by Angela Lansberry in the 1991 film and redone by Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson for the soundtrack. "Beauty and the Beast" went on to win an Oscar, Grammy and Golden Globe. Beauty and the Beast arrives in theaters on March 17.

The rollout of 2017 festival lineups continues, as Boston Calling unveiled its own today. Tool, Mumford & Sons and Chance the Rapper top the bill for this year's edition of the New England music festival. Also on board are Weezer, Cage the Elephant, The 1975, The xx, Bon Iver, Solange, Tegan & Sara and many more. Additionally, "a film experience curated by Natalie Portman" is part of the event. Boston Calling runs from May 26-28 at the Harvard Athletic Complex in Alston, MA.

The complete tracklist for the Fifty Shades Darker soundtrack has been announced. In addition to the Taylor Swift and Zayn duet "I Don't Wanna Live Anymore," the soundtrack includes brand new songs and covers from Halsey, Sia, Tove Lo and John Legend, as well as a team-up between Nick Jonas and Nicki Minaj. The Fifty Shades Darker soundtrack is slated for release on February 10, the same day as the film.

Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross have another high-profile film gig, composing and writing new material for the upcoming PBS documentary The Vietnam War. Directed by Ken Burns and Lynn Novick, the 10-part series will air this September. “We are incredibly honored to be a part of this project. With The Vietnam War, Ken, Lynn and Sarah have created something of vital importance. To bear witness to their process was immensely inspiring. The sheer scale of the project combined with the magnitude of the subject matter was initially daunting for us, but the commitment, care and reverence they displayed made the experience deeply satisfying on many levels,” said Reznor and Ross in a joint statement.
