J. Geils, guitarist and namesake of The J. Geils Band, has passed away at the age of 71. Geils is best known for his group's smash hits "Centerfold" and "Freeze Frame." The band was founded in 1967 and released 11 albums into the '80s. Geils was found unresponsive at his home in Groton, MA on Tuesday and according to local police had died of natural causes.
Gorillaz will bring their Demon Dayz festival to America this year, as Damon Albarn's project will hold a major event in Chicago. The first Demon Dayz festival had already been announced for Margate, UK on June 10. According to Stereogum, Gorillaz will also be touring extensively behind the new album Humanz, which is out April 28.
Tool has announced their own one-day festival in San Bernardino, CA, set for June 24. The veteran rockers will headline the concert with Primus, The Melvins and The Crystal Method DJing. Tool promise that an additional special guest will be revealed soon and said that "“Quite simply, fans of TOOL will not want to miss this SUMMER HAPPENING featuring critically acclaimed bands (and friends) on a stage where anything can happen."
