AccuStream iMedia Research has released a new report on Web listening trends, entitled "Net Music Radio 2007–2010: Listening Hour Analysis by Site and Brand." The study looks at the past four years and predicting the future up to 2010. AccuStream defines music radio online as live streaming channels and individual streaming tracks combined.
In 2007, total listening hours averaged 404.2 million hours per month (not counting downloaded music), way up from a 320.5 million average the year before. For the year, there were 4.85 billion total listening hours, a 26.1 percent increase over 2006.
AOL's Shoutcast took the biggest share of online listenership in 2007, with 48.8 percent of total listening hours, followed by Clear Channel Online, Yahoo! Music, AOL Radio Networks and Pandora.
Additionally, AccuStream found that audio ads on Web radio brought in $80 million in billing for 2007, with another $12-15 million raised with video ads.
