Clear Channel CHR WHTZ (Z100)/New York world premiered "What We Want" by Ashley Alexandra Dupre, a.k.a. "Kristen," on Thursday afternoon (3/13). Tom Poleman, SVP Programming at Z100, stated: "Z100 is all about playing what's hot and we can't think of anything hotter than a song from the woman at the center of the scandal that took down the Governor of New York. Michael G. Riley has been named Senior Vice President and General Manager at Radio Disney. He joins Disney after 10 years at Turner Broadcasting System where he worked across multiple European markets on both entertainment and news brands. Riley's appointment is effective April 1. He succeeds longtime Disney executive Jill Casagrande, who after helping build Radio Disney to unrivaled market presence with kids, moms and advertisers, left the company last month to relocate to her hometown of Cincinnati.
Comedy Central is developing a TV show with Opie and Anthony called Search and Destroy. It is described as a scavenger hunt in which "teams of comedians run amok in New York City with a list of assignments and head-to-head competitions," according to TV Week. Comedy Central unveiled Search and Destroy this week as part of its 2008-09 talent and development slate.
At Alternative KNDD/Seattle, MD/night hawk Andrew Harms comes off the air and is promoted to APD/MD, replacing the exiting Jim Keller. Also exiting the station is middayer DJ No Name. Nights are currently being handled by Jordin Silver, while middays belong to Radio Impulse, an interactive listener-controlled feature.
WKTU/New York's Goumba Johnny (John Sialiano) is releasing a humor book this month titled, So You Wanna Be A Mobster? Starting Your Own Mafia Family for Fun and Profit. The tongue-in-cheek tome is described as "the ultimate business book for people who are tired of being suckers, which means the audience for this book is about as huge as the fragrant swamps of Secaucus, New Jersey. The American Le Mans Series (ALMS) will be joining XM's motorsports coverage lineup starting this Saturday, March 15. It kicks off with the first ALMS race of the season, the 56th Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring event.
