Concert promoter Live Nation has added another artist to their Artist Nation division roster today. International Pop star Shakira has signed a 10 year deal with Live Nation that will encompass tours, recordings, merchandise and sponsorship. Neither Sharkira’s representatives nor Live Nation have confirmed the value of the deal, but the New York Times reports it could be worth between $70 million to $100 million. As previously reported, the Colombian-born star’s contract with Epic Records still calls for three more albums which include a greatest hits and an English album. However, all other aspects of the Live Nation contract will reportedly take effect immediately.
Live Nation first made headlines with its Artist Nation division when the concert promoter signed Madonna to an all encompassing deal in October 2007. Shakira will also be joining rap superstar Jay-Z and rock group U2, who signed a 12 year touring and merchandising deal with Live Nation in March.
