A close family friend wrote on the Prosound Web forum, "At this time the hemorrhage has done massive damage to his body which will leave him severely disabled and in need of acute care for the rest of his life. We know Jerry wouldn't want to live like this in a vegetative state." Finn got his start in the music industry as an engineer in the early 1990s and then began production work on albums such as Rancid’s …And Out Comes The Wolves. Finn also worked with Green Day, Bad Religion, Sparta, AFI and the Offspring.

Ben Folds opted to play a prank on fans hoping to find an early leak of his new album, Way To Normal, by re-recording six songs off the album with absurd lyrics and leaking them online himself. "You see so many rock bands in the studio and it's serious, serious business," Folds tells Rolling Stone. "They got the making-of camera up their ass the whole time and they're on the BlackBerry the other half of the time. I just think that we all need to remember how to have fun." Way To Normal will be out September 30.

David Gilmour will release Live In Gdansk on September 16 via Columbia Records. The album was originally supposed to be a live album of his whole recent tour, but all the best recordings came from the performance in Gdansk. The CD/DVD set also shows Gilmour reveling in a new era of his career where he is comfortable with his Pink Floyd legacy and as a solo artist. "I think on the last solo record (About Face) I made back in '84, I was a bit nervous about the Pink Floyd thing and wanted to stay away from it, whereas most of what the Pink Floyd thing is is a sound that I love. On (On An Island) I finally got to a place where I felt free from any pressure either way from that whole specter," Gilmour told Billboard. Live In Gdansk will also be released in 5 different CD/DVD packages.
