Retailers Set Release Date For New Kanye Album
September 10, 2008

Kanye West

Rumors continue to build that Kanye West will release his fourth album by the end of 2008. According to multiple reports, Amazon and Target are both listing a release date of December 16 for a new record from 'Ye, titled 808's & Heartbreak. His label Def Jam has not commented publicly on the reports yet.

Kanye did debut a new song, "Love Lockdown," at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night, which he has also been performing live recently. The song was expected to be released as a digital single this week, but that has not happened yet. On his blog, West said this week that "Love Lockdown" was written "a week and a half ago. It's my favorite song 2 date!! Go where your heart takes you..."

According to MTV, West played a surprise club show in New York City on Tuesday night, where he performed "Love Lockdown" alongside hits such as "Can't Tell Me Nothing," with Q-Tip and acts from West's G.O.O.D. label.

The album title, referencing the 808 drum machine, would break from Kanye's 'school' themed records.
