Quick Hits: The Who, Kanye West, Oasis, Paul McCartney, 3 Doors Down, Eminem
September 12, 2008

The Who's planned covers disc has been pushed to the back burner for the time being. Roger Daltry tells Billboard the album was to be produced by T Bone Burnett, who has been on tour with Robert Plant & Alison Krauss. "It's an idea that's ticking away," Daltrey says. "It still probably will happen, but I think the smaller the idea is kept, the better. Small and fluid, maybe just something for our Web site." The Who will hit the road for a brief tour next month.

Kanye West has checked in on his blog, following yesterday's arrest at LAX. However, the rapper doesn't say much about the incident. West merely wrote, "I'm cool with the paparazzi. This guy wasn't cool. I gotta work now... I'll rant later!" TMZ reports West is currently in Hawaii, working on his new album, expected out in December.

The Gallagher Brothers

Also blogging about his troubles this week is Oasis' Noel Gallagher. He wrote that he has "Spent all day in bed suffering from my severe tickling at the hands of that drunken Canadian who, it transpires, is a grown man of 47 years!! (And I thought I was the oldest person at our gigs!) In his defense though, he's probably having one of those mid-life crises things. Apparently it's on YouTube. Imagine doing an assault on world television!?" While Oasis was forced to cancel tonight's New York City show, plans are still on for street musicians to perform four new Oasis tunes from Dig Out Your Soul around the city. The performances will be filmed by The Malloys. More information can be found here.

Paul McCartney will perform in Israel on September 25 as planned, despite protests from pro-Palestinian groups."I was approached by different groups and political bodies who asked me not to come here. I refused. I do what I think, and I have many friends who support Israel," McCartney said in a recent interview. The Beatles were supposed to play Israel in 1965, but their concert was cancelled by the government.

3 Doors Down have been forced to postpone seven shows on their current North American trek, as singer Brad Arnold battles laryngitis. The band is expected to return to the road as of September 20 in Dallas.

Sirius' Shade 45 channel will welcome its executive producer, Eminem, for an exclusive interview discussing the anniversary of the legendary independent record label Delicious Vinyl. Eminem will discuss the significance of the 20th anniversary with special guests, including Delicious Vinyl’s co-founder Mike Ross this Tuesday, September 16 from 8–10 p.m. ET.
