Elvis Costello, Feist, Willie Nelson, John Legend and Toby Keith will team up with Stephen Colbert for Colbert's Comedy Central Christmas special. The original songs for the special were written by Fountains Of Wayne's Adam Schlesinger. The special reportedly ends with an all-star sing-along of "(What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love and Understanding?" It will debut on Comedy Central on November 23, with a DVD release two days later. Proceeds from the DVD will go to the hunger-fighting organization Feeding America.Outkast's André "3000" Benjamin gave Rolling Stone an update on his upcoming solo project, while discussing his new movie Battle In Seattle. "It should be dropping by the end of this year or early next year. I’ve pretty much been working with myself,” he said. “I’ve never really been that big on collaboration. I have a concept, and all the soundscapes are already in my head, so I just have to figure out how to get there." Battle In Seattle, a film about the 1999 World Trade Organization protests, opens in theaters this Friday.
Mudvayne will release their latest album, The New Game, on November 18. The rockers will hit the road along with 10 Years and the reunited Snot beginning in El Paso, TX on October 28. The tour is slated to wrap up in Orlando on December 20. Mudvayne's new single, "Do What You Do," arrives at radio this Monday, September 22.
The Pussycat Dolls team up with Missy Elliott on their new single, "Whatcha Think About That," which appears on the new album Doll Domination. "Missy is so hot because she's the first female we've worked with on our album," Nicole Scherzinger told MTV News. "And she's taking the Pussycat Dolls to a whole other level. We love you, Missy." Doll Domination is due out next Tuesday (September 23) and includes contributions from Timbaland, Dr. Dre and many more. The Dolls then plan to hit the road in January.
The 2009 Langerado Festival will move from the Florida Everglades to Miami, according to its organizers. Billboard reports that the festival will be held March 6 to 8, with 60 artists on four stages in Bicentennial Park in Miami. The lineup will be revealed in November. This year's festival was headlined by R.E.M., the Beastie Boys, 311 and The Roots.
Due to illness, The Black Crowes have cancelled five west coast dates: 9/16 (Mesa, AZ), 9/17 (Los Angeles), 9/19 (Santa Barbara), 9/20 (San Diego Street Scene) and 9/21 (Santa Rosa, CA).
Wu-Tang fans who want the audio version of the upcoming Wu-Tang Clan Live At Montreux DVD can buy it online at Amazon.com’s MP3 store. The audio will be available online only at Amazon.com, while the DVD comes out October 7. RZA, GZA, Method Man, Inspectah Deck, Raekwon The Chef, U-God, Ghostface Killah and Masta Killa were joined at the live DVD performance by Cappadonna, Streetlife and DJ Mathematics. It was filmed in summer of 2007. The 32-song set features the band’s hits as well as tracks from their respective solo careers.
Bono and The Edge contribute to Tom Jones' first U.S. release in 15 years. Jones co-wrote more than half the tracks on 24 Hours, due out on S-Curve Records on November 25. The U2 members wrote and perform on "Sugar Daddy," which was specifically crafted for the Welsh crooner.
