 Scars On Broadway
| Scars On Broadway's first North American tour, scheduled to begin October 19, as well as their October 14 performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, have been cancelled. The band was going out to support their self-titled debut album, but frontman Daron Malakian says he has some personal issues to attend to. "I understand all of your frustration and anger, and I never meant to let any of you down," Malakian wrote to fans on the band's Web site. "Your support for Scars has been so important to me and the band. I would never cancel a tour unless I had real reasons and personal things that require my undivided attention. The music of Scars will live on, but now is a time when aspects of my life need to be tended to. I hope all of you can understand."Weezer has unveiled the video for their current single, "Troublemaker," in which the band and their fans break several world's records. Throughout the clip, they break the records for: Largest Air Guitar Ensemble, Largest Game of Dodgeball, Longest Guitar Hero World Tour Marathon, Most People in a Custard Pie Fight and Most People Riding On A Skateboard. The video can be seen here in FMQB's Modern Rock format room. The third season of Bob Dylan's Theme Time Radio Hour kicks off on XM tomorrow, October 8, at 10 a.m. Some of the themes in season 3 include "Money," "War," "Presidents," "Cats" and "Famous People." Dylan has also released a new two-disc rarities set, Tell Tale Signs: The Bootleg Series Vol. 8, out today.
Colbie Caillat will release an expanded edition of CoCo on November 11. Eight more songs will be on the new version of the album, including live covers of Lauryn Hill's "Tell Him" and Bob Marley's "Turn Your Lights Down Low," a version of Dusty Springfield's "Brand New Me," Caillat's "Somethin' Special" from an Olympics compilation, "Hoy Me Voy" featuring Juanes, "Circles" and an acoustic version of the hit "Bubbly."
R. Kelly has won a $3.4 million settlement against his former tour promoter and is asking a Los Angeles judge to help him collect. R. Kelly Touring, which represents the singer, filed court documents this week seeking a judge's confirmation of the award that an arbitrator granted against Rowe Entertainment last month. Kelly was awarded the money in back pay from his Double Up tour after the promoter reportedly swindled Kelly and others involved. Kelly accused Leonard Rowe of selling shares of his concerts in exchange for cash investments, but then falsely telling the investors that the concerts lost money. "I agreed to let Leonard Rowe promote my tour because he convinced me he was an underdog who deserved a chance to prove himself. Like the saying goes, ‘No good deed goes unpunished,'" Kelly said in a statement. "I have complete sympathy for all the good people who were swindled by Rowe, and I will do everything I can to help them get their money back from him."
Mushroomhead will release a new DVD called Volume 2 on October 28. The DVD features more than two hours of live footage from the past three years, music videos, behind the scenes footage and other band antics. Meanwhile, Mushroomhead will hit the road in October with The Autumn Offering, XFactor1 and Human Factors Lab. The group also will enter the studio this winter to record the follow-up to their 2006 release, Savior Sorrow. The new CD is slated for release in spring 2009.
New York Classic Rock station Q104 will hold a special charity event with Billy Joel to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Charity Begins at Home, the organization which he founded in 1978. The intimate engagement will take place Monday, October 27 at the Hard Rock Café in Times Square. Attendees will be able to ask questions and hear background stories of some of the most popular songs from Joel's remarkable catalog. Fewer than 400 tickets will be auctioned off for this up close and personal show, with all proceeds going to back to Charity Begins at Home – a Long Island organization that allocates funds to various charitable agencies in the tri-state area.
The Supersuckers will play a special 20th anniversary show on November 29 at the Showbox Theater in Seattle, and they will be joined by the reunited Green River, featuring members of Pearl Jam and Mudhoney. The Supersuckers also will release a new album, Get It Together, on November 25.
