 Jennifer Hudson
| It has been confirmed that the body police found in an SUV in Chicago is that of Jennifer Hudson's 7-year-old nephew, Julian King. An autopsy for the boy was scheduled to take place Tuesday, but it was not clear whether he was killed inside the vehicle or at the home in which Hudson's mother and brother were found shot to death on Friday. So far the only person detained by police in the case has been William Balfour, the estranged husband of Hudson's sister. The Chicago Tribune reported that after Balfour initially cooperated with police, he has stopped talking to them. Balfour, out on parole after serving a seven-year prison sentence for attempted murder and kidnapping, has been transferred to a state facility for violating his parole. Police are now testing his clothing for gunshot residue, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Many in the entertainment community have voiced support for Hudson in this tragic time. American Idol judge Simon Cowell told Extra, "I was horrified when I heard the news. This is an appalling tragedy. My thoughts right now are with Jennifer and her family." Hudson's Life of Bees co-star Queen Latifah told Access Hollywood, "When we heard the news of Jennifer losing her mother and her brother, our hearts broke for her, and we immediately began to pray for her strength and comfort and that of her family. I know the family is devastated and heartbroken and I hope that friends and fans and those who care about her just pray for her and give her all the support that she needs at this moment and for quite a long time to come."
Since being released exclusively at Walmart, Sam's Club, and acdc.com on October 20, AC/DC's new album, Black Ice, has reportedly topped sales charts in 29 countries including the U.S., U.K., Germany, Canada, France, Argentina, Japan, Australia, Belgium, Finland, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland. In the U.S. alone Black Ice has sold more than 780,000 units its first week on sale, marking the band's first ever debut at #1 on the album charts. Over 5 million copies of Black Ice have been shipped worldwide. On Sunday night, AC/DC performed a dress rehearsal for their tour at the Wachovia Arena in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, PA. The tour officially begins at that venue tonight.
LL Cool J has dropped off Janet Jackson's Rock Witchu Tour due to unspecified "scheduling conflicts." Losing her opening act is yet another blow to Jackson's tour, after she already had to cancel a string of dates because of a battle with migraine-associated vertigo. She recently resumed the tour while being treated for the illness. Jackson's upcoming shows are tonight in Auburn Hills, MI and Saturday in New York. She is expected to announce more dates shortly.
Disturbed has unleashed more tour dates in support of Indestructible. The band added shows from November 23 in Rochester, MN to December 15 in Indianapolis.
50 Cent is an executive producer and interview subject in the new Jam Master Jay documentary, Two Turntables and a Microphone. 50 told MTV News that the documentary was produced in part by Jay's cousin, Stephon "Phonz" Watford, and it sheds some light on the circumstances surrounding Jay's death. 50 also called Jay "somebody who impacted my career in the biggest way... 'Cause in my career, I was just in the infant stages, developing my song structure around Jay. The first time I was in the studio, [it was] with intentions of recording songs for an album with Jam Master Jay," 50 recalled. "He taught me how to count bars. I could rap already. I knew what I wanted to say, but he was showing me how I had to get it out around the right time. [He would say,] 'That sounds crazy, you have to say it earlier in this verse.' "
The Killers will hit the road on January 17 in Denver in support of their third Island Records album, Day and Age. The album drops on November 25. As of now the Killers have shows booked through February 4 in Grand Prairie, TX.
