The 2008 mtvU Woodie Awards were handed out last night in New York, with Paramore coming out on top with the evening's biggest prize, Woodie Of The Year. The awards are aimed at the college music crowd, with Motion City Soundtrack winning Best Video Woodie for "It Had To Be You." Other honorees included Indie Hip-Hop duo Atmosphere winning the Performance Woodie, Jack's Mannequin claimed the Good Woodie for their charitable work and Chromeo for Left Field Woodie. And WICB/Ithica College won as Best College Station. Vampire Weekend and Santogold were among the performers. The awards show will air on mtvU on November 19.Rod Stewart and Ron Wood are considering reuniting their seminal band The Faces for the first time in 30 years. Stewart, Wood, Ian McLagen and Kenney Jones, along with Stewart's touring bassist filling in for the late Ronnie Laine, will try out a rehearsal next Monday, according to Billboard. While nothing is set in stone yet, The Faces could have an eye on some reunion shows in 2009. The Mod rockers broke up in 1975 when Wood joined The Rolling Stones.
The Raconteurs have shot a new video for "Old Enough" from Consolers Of The Lonely and launched an unusual Web site in conjunction with the clip. Apparently a parody of PBS' Antique Roadshow, www.FromOldToGold.com, shows a clip of a man bringing in a 'raconteur' to be appraised. The band has also launched a YouTube channel, encouraging fans to upload video of their own "treasured keepsakes."
A deluxe edition of SIXX:AM's Heroin Diaries album will be released exclusively at Best Buy on November 25. It will include a bonus eight-song live EP titled Live Is Beautiful. The EP will also be available separately.
St. Louis rockers Living Things return with Habeas Corpus, their first album since their 2005 debut Head Of The Lions due out February 17 on Jive Records. The lead single, "Let It Rain," officially impacts at radio this coming Monday, November 17.
